who understands this boring blog

blog readability test

At the time I check Planet KDE, it is for high school while Planet GNOME requires junior high school level. Strangely, my website is only for genius (no wonder I myself could not understand it).

Someone knows the algorithm behind that detector?

hmm it says mine is elementary school while my items are clearly technical. I think it looks for the words you're using. Considering the fact I'm not a native English speaker it's likely I'm using more simple words to describe something.

I know of two formulas to calculate reading ease. It's Flesch-Kincaid Readability Test and SMOG formula. Dunno which one that site is using though :)

@Diederik: you can try to create a bogus blog full of buzzwords :-)

@Alexander Dymo: I doubt they use one of the reading ease formula.

Same for my pages. My blog is undergrad college level, my page at the university is genius level... strange.

It has to do with what words it encounters are not in it's dictionary. The major difference between PlanetKDE and PlanetGnome is that more Gnome applications have names that are English words or simple composites (Soundjuicer).

I think it's just calculating same kind algoritm as Kword does when looking how "readable" the document is. If webpage is bretty easy to read, like planetgnome, it's get smaller level. planetkde is much "harder" to read because you dont easily see who wrote what and where does "article" end and where new one starts. On planetgnome it's bretty easy because of those bubbles. (what i would like to see on planetkde too :-)).

(it's just a guess)
